Quelles sont les différences entre une écharpe, une étole et un châle en laine ? - Label Naturel

Wool scarves, stoles and shawls are among the essential pieces of your winter wardrobe. But do you know the differences?

In this article, we will explain to you their difference in fit, their difference in sizes and finally the advantages linked to their 100% pure wool material.

Enough to spend a winter warm and elegant.

When and how to wear a scarf, stole or shawl?

Scarf, stole or even wool shawl, the first difference lies in their use.

The wool scarf protects your neck from the cold

The wool scarf, once simply functional, is today a essential fashion accessory, providing not only protection against the cold, but also elegant style.

It is worn wrapped around the neck and thus provides cozy warmth while enhancing your outfit with a refined touch.

At Label Naturel, we offer you a selection of scarves made from natural wool fibers, distinguished by their soft and insulating texture.

The exceptional quality of our wool scarves combines comfort, style and optimal protection against the cold.

You can vary the ways you wear your wool scarf:

  • Rolled up several times for a casual look
  • Draped over the shoulders for style bohème
  • Simply tied at the front for a more classic look

This accompanies you every day in your different desires.

The wool stole adds a touch of elegance to your outfit

The stole is distinguished from the scarf by a more refined outfit.

It drapes delicately over our shoulders, naturally offering a more sophisticated outfit.

The wool stole is perfect for special occasions:

  • Ceremonies
  • Weddings
  • Baptisms
  • Dressy evenings

Wool stoles that we offer you are made of pure lambswool or pure Pyrenees wool.

Available in solid tones, they are embellished with fringes which elegantly complete their finish.

Thus, your outfits are gracefully adorned with these stoles which wrap you in softness.

The wool shawl: a generous size to protect you from the cold

The particularly generously sized wool shawl wraps itself around you and thus creates a comforting feeling.

It is the ideal companion for all people who are cold, who want to combine style, warmth and comfort by presenting an elegant outfit.

It is worn draped over the shoulders but can also be tied around the neck. With its large size, you can try other carries such as falling on one shoulder.

What is the difference in size of a scarf, stole and shawl?

In the game of differences, the size of each of these fabrics plays an important role. It is in particular thanks to this difference in size that their use is different.

Dimensions of a Scarf:

150 to 200cm in length : this is on average the measurement of a classic scarf.

This standard length allows for a comfortable wrap around the neck while still leaving enough fabric to create a variety of styles.

Shorter scarves can offer a practical option for a streamlined look, while extra-long versions allow for multiple wrappings.

Dimensions of a Stole:

Stoles are wider and longer than scarves.

In width, they oscillate between 40 and 60 centimeters.

Stoles allow for a variety of styles, whether draping them elegantly over the shoulders for a sophisticated look or tying them creatively for a more casual look.

Dimensions of a Shawl:

Shawls are wider and longer than scarves and stoles. We love them for their enveloping dimensions.

They measure more than 90 centimeters wide and can reach 200 centimeters in length.

Wool: ideal material for your scarves, stoles and shawls

wool stands out from other materials by the softness and warmth it gives off.

At Label Naturel, the wool we use is of very high quality. It comes in two tones: lambswool and Pyrenees wool.

Our scarves and stoles in pure lambswool

We use pure lambswool lambswool for our stoles and scarves.

This wool has the particularity of being warm and light at the same time.

Very soft, it is also antibacterial, thermoregulating and breathable: this makes it the ideal wool for people with sensitive skin prone to reactions.

Our lambswool comes from the first shearing of a lamb. This is what gives it its extreme softness and superior quality.

Our scarves, stoles and shawls in pure Pyrenees wool

All our accessories pure wool from the Pyrenees are knitted and made in the French workshops of Val d’Arizes, a company based in Cieutat in the Hautes-Pyrénées.

This wool is warm, light and easy to wear. It easily accompanies all body movements and comforts you on a daily basis.

Thanks to the exceptional know-how from Val d'Arizes, we can offer you scarves, stoles and shawls in Pyrenees wool combining comfort, tradition and modernity.

FAQs

How to wash a wool scarf, stole or shawl without damaging it?
Wash by hand or on the “wool” program at 20–30°C with a Detergent soft. Limit spinning (or use a net), do not rub and avoid thermal shock. After rinsing, press in a towel without twisting then dry flat, away from a heat source. No tumble drying or harsh cleaning.
Why did my wool piece felt after washing?
Felting results from the combination of heat + movement + too alkaline detergent. To avoid it: lukewarm water, little agitation, Detergent special wool and dry flat. If the felting is light, a warm bath with a little conditioner and then gentle reshaping can improve the appearance.
Which dimensions to choose: scarf, stole or shawl?
For daily wear around the neck, the 150 to 200 cm scarf is suitable for multiple knots. The wider stole (approx. 40–60 cm) drapes over the shoulders for a dressy look. The shawl, very enveloping (> 90 cm wide), provides generous protection and can be worn over a coat or as a shoulder cover.
Are the colors shown on screen true to the actual product?
Each screen has its own settings (brightness, contrast, color profile), which can create slight variations. To judge better: increase the brightness, compare on a second device or refer to the color descriptions. If in doubt, contact us for additional visuals.
Why can some wools “itch” and what can you do about it?
The sensation comes mainly from the diameter of the fibers: the larger they are, the more they stimulate the skin. Choose fine wools (lambswool, selection from the Pyrenees), wear the piece on a light collar if you are very sensitive and maintain it with a Detergent adapted to maintain suppleness and softness.
