Couette en laine : la couette idéale en hiver - Label Naturel

Winter is here, and with it, the desire to slip into a warm and soft duvet becomes essential.

Faced with the different materials available, you may wonder why choose a wool quilt to face the cold of this season?

As specialist in natural fiber bed linen, Label Naturel is happy to answer all your questions.

Let's take a look at the advantages of the wool duvet which will allow you to spend peaceful and pleasant nights.

Everything you need to know about wool duvets

The wool is a natural fiber recovered during sheep shearing. This soft and voluptuous fleece is ideal for protecting animals from the cold and protects us just as well when used to fill our bed textiles.

In addition to its natural virtues, we only use wools that are washed without chemicals, carded and then combed with care. You thus benefit from duvets and other bed textiles made from high quality wool.

Why choose a wool duvet?

Wool is a material sustainable and resistant. It keeps you warm during many years, and its maintenance is easy. Furthermore, it is a healthy material which is particularly suitable for people with allergy problems.

What are the advantages of wool duvet?

Wool has three major advantages, in addition to those mentioned above. This makes it particularly interesting for filling our duvets. She is:

1. Insulating: in hot weather, it helps maintain a stable body temperature by facilitating the evacuation of perspiration. During cold seasons, it retains body heat, thus providing protection against the cold.

2. Thermal regulator: in addition to its insulating capabilities, wool excels in thermal regulation. It allows adaptation to climatic variations, dissipating excess heat during hot nights and maintaining constant warmth in winter. The body thus remains at an optimal temperature throughout the night.

3. Lightweight and breathable: Contrary to popular belief, wool is light and pleasant. This lightness avoids the stuffy feeling often associated with heavy duvets. Its very breathable side promotes good air circulation: you are thus enveloped in comforting warmth.

100% organic wool duvets, know-how from Label Naturel

We have chosen quality, offering a range of 100% certified organic Merino wool duvets.

Our 100% organic wool duvets

From their cover to their filling, all of our 100% organic wool duvets are certified thanks to the label GOTS.

Any duvet having obtained this label meets precise criteria, in particular: respect for the environment, decent working conditions, job security and of course, organic labeling.

Pure Merino wool

To go further, and offer a unique product on the market, we chose the Merino wool.

This wool which finds its origin in the breed of sheep of the same name offers a particularly silky fiber, very soft and three times thinner than traditional wool.

It remains perfectly insulating and helps regulate the temperature to maintain an ideal atmosphere throughout the night.

The wool of our duvets is 100% European

In addition to these technical specifications, all the wool we use to make our quilts is harvested in European farms.

This is obtained solely through the shearing of live animals which are raised respecting their needs. A peaceful life in healthy pastures, without treatments containing fertilizers, pesticides or insecticides.

Their health is preserved and does not include unnecessary treatments involving antibiotics.

It is thanks to these very precise specifications that we can offer you a range of 100% organic wool duvets very high quality.

FAQs

Does the wool duvet keep you too hot?
Wool is naturally thermoregulatory. It retains heat when it's cold and wicks away moisture to prevent overheating when the room warms up. Result: a more stable body temperature and more comfortable sleep, summer and winter.
Can you machine wash a wool duvet?
Yes, if the label allows it: “Wool” or “Delicate” program at low temperature (30°C), gentle spin and Detergent special wool. Avoid fabric softeners and overfilling the drum. For bulky models, choose ecological pressing to preserve the loft.
Should you use a dryer for a wool duvet?
Preferably not: heat and friction can felt the fibers. Dry flat or on a drying rack, in the open air and in the shade, ventilating regularly. If a dryer is necessary, use a very gentle “Wool” program.
Is wool duvet suitable for allergy sufferers?
Yes. Wool regulates humidity and limits the development of dust mites, making it an interesting option for sensitive people. Choose a breathable cover and wash the bed linen regularly for a healthy environment.
What weight should you choose for a wool duvet (g/m²)?
Adapt it to the season and the temperature of your room: a light weight for summer, intermediate for mid-season and heavier for winter or people who are cold. “4 seasons” duvets combine two thicknesses to cover the entire year. Also think about your personal sensitivity.
How to maintain a wool duvet so that it lasts a long time?
Air your duvet every week, use a protective cover, limit washing and treat small stains immediately. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and store dry during summer. These actions preserve the volume and softness of the fibers.
