Why choose one Blanket in wool?
Choose one Blanket in pure wool, you ensure at least three things: warmth, authenticity and quality.
Which wool to choose? You will find different types of wool on our site, each offering specific benefits. For the same type of wool, the weight (calculated in g/m²) gives an indication of the warmth of the Blanket. The higher the weight, the more Blanket is hot.
Woolmark virgin wool®
Shearing a sheep yields an average of 2 kg of wool. Mowing is done once a year, in spring or early summer. Washed, milled, degreased, the virgin wool is then carded and then combed. Of remarkable quality, its air-conditioning and anti-perspiration comfort is ideal in all seasons. The Woolmark certificate® guarantees you two things:
Merino
The Merino is a breed of sheep native to Australia whose breeding continues in Spain and Provence and whose dense and curly fleece gives abundant, elastic and very resistant wool. A Merino sheep produces the equivalent of 9,000 km of wool fiber each year. Very soft and silky, Merino wool is three times finer than traditional wool and therefore absolutely does not itch. It is also very insulating and temperature regulating.Product benefit : breathable and warm, our merino wool blankets are ideal for all seasons (winter, mid-season, summer) and have an even softer feel than virgin wool.
Kashmir
The Cashmere comes from the long, silky hair of the Mongolian goat. Its production and manufacturing are limited to the sole geographical area of origin of the goats, that is to say a territory which extends from northern Indian Kashmir to northern Mongolia. In winter, to protect the goats from the icy and cold wind, a tight down of fine and supple hair lines their summer coat. This down is removed with a brush during spring moulting on the animals' chests. It is then whitened using a rice flour preparation, then dyed in various colors, then woven, washed and assembled with imperceptible seams.Product benefit : of incomparable softness, our Cashmere blankets are warm, light and extremely silky to the touch.
The Alpaca
Wealth of Inca Heritage,Alpaca is domesticated in Bolivia and Peru. His coat is fluffy and soapy soft. It can be sheared every year, but it can keep its fleece for two or even three years. The latter is thus recognized internationally as one of the finest and luxurious fibers in the world. Alpaca also offers the greatest known diversity of natural colors: twenty-two shades.Product benefit : precious fiber, softer, warmer, more resistant and lighter than sheep's wool, Alpaca is used for weaving exceptional blankets.
Mohair
Mohair (Angora goat hair) is a fiber with exceptional thermal qualities. Ideal in all seasons, it is warm in winter and cool when summers are humid.
It is also very light and offers a beautiful lustrous appearance and a very soft touch which is intended not only for connoisseurs, but also for young children and the elderly looking for warmth without excessive weight. A natural material, Mohair is nonetheless a resistant and easy-to-maintain wool. The fibers of Mohair wool tend to return to their original curly shape: this is what gives it its particular loft.Product benefit : our Mohair wool blankets are warm, extremely soft and above all very light.

Which treatments for which advantages?Used by humans for over 10,000 years, wool has stood the test of time thanks to its unique natural properties.
Today, countless textile fibers are trying to dethrone it, but science and industry are still not capable of producing a fiber with all the natural properties of wool.
An authentic natural material, wool is produced by woolly animals, first and foremost being sheep and goats (cashmere, mohair, etc.) but also yaks, camels, alpacas, etc. Their fleece protects them from the cold and allows them to sweat without getting wet.
So many qualities sought by man in the manufacture of a Blanket in wool:
-
Wool is an excellent insulator : retaining air in its fibers, a Blanket wool keeps you warm. It has excellent thermal comfort with high antiperspirant power. This capacity is 20 to 30 times greater than most synthetic fibers.
-
Wool is breathable and temperature-regulating : it can retain up to 20% of its own weight in water. It thus absorbs, throughout the night, the body's perspiration offering peaceful sleep without the feeling of humidity. Its absorption capacity takes place inside the fibers, which allows the air held between them to remain drier and protects the body from an unpleasant feeling of dampness. The humidity is then transmitted to the outside of the bedding.
- Wool provides natural air conditioning: the sleeping microclimate remains healthy all night, without excess humidity. Sleep with one Blanket wool has real impacts on health and daily hygiene. The Blanket in wool helps to solve problems such as respiratory allergies and sleep safety with a minimum of means and a maximum of effects.

Moth treatment
Since our blankets have not been subject to any mothproofing treatment (chemistry is not our friend), we advise you to place in your cupboards some natural mothproofing products which have proven their worth, such as a sachet of lavender, thyme or rosemary, bay leaves, cedar bark, pieces of Marseille or Aleppo soap, a few chestnuts or even a small cotton pad soaked in mint essential oil, eucalyptus, thyme, cedar. These solutions are numerous, inexpensive and have the immense advantage of being completely free of any chemical products.
Anti-pilling treatment
Some manufacturers apply an anti-pilling treatment to their blankets to prevent abrasion of the wool fiber. In fact, on entry-level blankets, wool fibers gradually detach to form fluff. The lint gets tangled on the surface of the fabric to form small knots. In order to prevent this degradation, a protective film is applied to the weaving preventing the change in position of the fibers. The problem is that this finish is chemical and that it obviously alters the physiological qualities of the wool. Often toxic, it denatures and pollutes the Blanket which has no more naturalness than its name.Obviously, none of our blankets undergo chemical anti-pilling treatment. Why choose one Blanket Label Naturel ?If the composition of your Blanket and the quality of the wools used are essential to its comfort, the know-how of the manufacturer and the care taken in its manufacture are obviously essential.
Our blankets are made by three French manufacturers with recognized expertise :
