Choosing the right size for your tablecloth is very simple: you just need to measure the width and length of your table top then add approximately 30 cm on each side.
Let's take the example of a table whose top would measure 180 cm long by 90 cm wide and calculate:
For length: 180 +30 +30 = 240cm
For the width: 90 + 30 + 30 = 150 cm
Choose a tablecloth measuring 240 x 150 cm but you can plan a little larger to take into account the inevitable shrinkage of the fabric during the first wash.
Presentation Tips
In general, for your guests to be comfortably seated at the table, it is advisable to provide a minimum width of 60 cm for each of them at the table so that no one has discomfort at the elbows. For example, a 2 m table will be perfect for 6 to 8 people. It will be appropriate to add approximately 30 cm of fall on either side of the table to the size of your table top so that your tablecloth drapes nicely.
• Since the round, oval tablecloths or oblong are now difficult to find commercially, a square tablecloth will look wonderful on a round table just like a rectangular tablecloth on an oval table. It will “fall” elegantly, making a point at the four legs of your table.
• A table runner will be placed along the length of the table to make a decorative "centerpiece" like our grandmothers' placemats were back in the day.
It will be used directly on the top so that it remains visible if it is beautiful or superimposed on a coordinated tablecloth. There are no special rules here. The result simply has to “please the eye”. That is to say, yours!
• The Opposite allows two guests to sit face-to-face and can therefore be used across the width of the table for lunch or dinner, as its name suggests, one-on-one. By installing several facing each other side by side, you will set an elegant table and adjust the number of guests as desired.
• Finally, the small squares (square tablecloths measuring around 120 cm on each side) can be used on a coffee table, a pedestal table or simply as a point on your dining room table for a pretty decor between meals.
