Subject guide
Like many informed consumers, we are convinced of the benefits of natural products in our home. Softer, healthier, more respectful of the environment... Nature has always offered us the best. Far from being an “object lesson”, this page is intended solely to help you choose the product you wish to purchase.
You will find for each material, its origin, its virtues, its advantages but also its technical constraints. Because we are sure of the brands we distribute but totally independent, we tell you everything! Of course, we also detail its maintenance method for each material. However, we advise you to refer exclusively to the maintenance instructions appearing on the product sheet that you are going to order.
CASHMERE
The Cashmere comes from the long, silky hair of the Mongolian goat. Its production and manufacturing are limited to the sole geographical area of origin of the goats, that is to say a territory which extends from northern Indian Kashmir to northern Mongolia.
In winter, to protect the goats from the icy and cold wind, a dense down of fine, supple hair lines their summer coat. This down is removed with a brush during spring moulting on the animals' chests. It is then whitened using a rice flour preparation, then dyed in various colors, then woven, washed and assembled with imperceptible seams.
Incomparably soft, Cashmere is warm, light and has a silky feel. It is used in the composition of exceptional throws and blankets.
Maintenance:
Not very fragile but sensitive to humidity like most natural materials, cashmere is preferably dry cleaned. But have no regrets: it’s worth it! However, as its fibers do not retain dust or greasy substances, it will not require frequent cleaning under normal conditions of use. If you decide to wash it, do so with great care and only with a Detergent special precious wools like Tenemoll®.
NB: we advise you, however, to refer exclusively to the maintenance instructions appearing on the product sheet that you are going to order.

COTTON
Known and used since ancient times from the tropical regions of Africa to the mysterious lands of Asia, cotton is a plant fiber composed of approximately 94% cellulose, surrounding the seeds of cotton plants.
Picking is generally done manually; the cotton fiber is then ginned, cleaned and separated from the seeds. After being cleared of impurities, the fiber reaches the hands of our artisans.
Hypoallergenic, hygienic and capable of absorbing around 10% of its weight in water, cotton has countless qualities that make it the natural plant fiber most used to make household linen.
Easy to maintain, it has absolutely no static electricity unlike synthetic fibers. Ideal for all seasons, cotton is comfortable and solid.
You will find several types of cotton in our catalog:
- Egyptian, one of the noblest. Its 4 cm fibers are longer than those of traditional cotton (2 cm). It owes its great quality to the fertile and humid soils of the Nile valley where it is grown.
- Combed, it underwent a combing phase during spinning in order to retain only the longest fibers, giving it great softness to the touch.
Maintenance:
Cotton is easy to maintain. It can be washed without risk of shrinkage. White cotton can be boiled and washed at up to 90°C, like “colorfast” colored cottons. Other colored cottons easily withstand washing temperatures of up to 60°C.ORGANIC COTTON

Renowned for its durability and resilience (ability to return to its initial shape after being crushed), duck down is considered a high-performance natural insulator. Made up of flakes directly in contact with the skin of the webfoot and a small percentage of feathers, it offers numerous qualities guaranteeing incomparable natural insulation.
It is light, traps air to guarantee perfect thermal insulation, absorbs humidity and restores heat. A noble and rare material, the usable production is approximately 12 grams per duck. Used for filling duvets, eiderdowns and pillows, the proportion of down determines the quality of the product.
If 10 to 50% down is sufficient for making a quality pillow due to the diffusion of heat at the level of the head and the “softer” comfort that too high quality down would provide, the manufacture of a beautiful duvet requires at least 70% down and up to 90% in high-end duvets.
The more down a bedding item contains, the lighter, warmer and fluffier it will be! With the aim of offering high-performance bedding which also has a beautiful loft aesthetic, we have chosen to only offer duck down whose provenance we can guarantee. Duck down has all the virtues necessary for insulation and thermoregulation performance, we have favored it for the manufacture of duvets, pillows and eiderdowns which make up our catalog. The filling of the bedding products we offer contains up to 90% new down with a fill power of 700 cuin, positioning them among the best.
The cuin, for "cubic inches per ounce" English translation of "filling power" represents the thermal insulation capacity of the down by trapping a certain volume of air. The cuin is established in the laboratory by measuring the volume of a sample of down placed in a cylinder and subjected to the standardized pressure of a piston.
The higher the value resulting from this measurement, the higher the loft of the down fiber tested and the better the loft of the item made from this down fiber.
You will frequently find this unit of measurement in the description of our quilts, quilts and Uppermattress in goose or duck down.
Maintenance:
Duck down is best kept dry but can be washed with great care and using a "Detergent special" likeTenemoll®. A shame for a web-footed person, you might say!
However, as it does not retain dust or greasy substances, it will not require, under normal conditions of use, frequent cleaning, the envelope used by the manufacturer effectively protecting the filling.
Just like the duvet cover or pillowcase in which you will slip your down item. The use of a pillowcase is recommended to protect the cover of your pillows and bolsters from sweat stains.
NB: we advise you, however, to refer exclusively to the maintenance instructions appearing on the product sheet that you are going to order.

Goose Down
Renowned for its durability and resilience (ability to return to its initial shape after being crushed), down is considered the most efficient natural insulator, guaranteeing perfect insulation, moisture absorption and great restitution of body heat.
Made up of flakes directly in contact with the goose's skin and a small percentage of feathers, goose down offers many qualities guaranteeing incomparable natural insulation. Having a denser core than duck down, it is warmer and a little less fragile.
The fact of mixing downy feathers with pure down gives it resistance to crushing, better swelling in the event of quilting of the duvet or eiderdown and therefore better longevity.
The more down the mixture contains, the lighter and warmer it will be. If 10 to 50% down is sufficient for making a quality pillow due to the diffusion of heat at the level of the head and the “softer” comfort that too high a quality of down would provide, the manufacture of a quality duvet requires at least 70% down and up to 90% for the most beautiful duvets.

However, as it does not retain dust or greasy substances, it will not require frequent cleaning under normal conditions of use; the envelope used by the manufacturer effectively protects the filling.
Just like the duvet cover or pillowcase in which you will slip your down item. For your pillows, we recommend using a pillowcase to protect the cover of your pillows and bolsters from sweat stains.

Kapok
Silky and very light plant fiber constituting the felt which lines the fruits of the kapok tree, the kapok is waterproof, rot-proof and widely acclaimed for its elasticity and impermeability to heat.
Today, it is mainly used as a filling material to stuff mattresses, pillows and cushions. It is used in particular to make zafus, Japanese Zen meditation cushions.
Soft and elastic, kapok gives pillows and mattresses resilience (the ability of a material to return to its initial shape after crushing) and lasting support over time.
Naturally anti-allergic, it is suitable for the most sensitive skin and offers an excellent alternative for allergy sufferers.
Maintenance:
Dry clean. NB: we advise you, however, to refer exclusively to the maintenance instructions appearing on the product sheet that you are going to order.

WOOL
Wool is a keratin fiber from the fleece of sheep. Its fiber traps a large quantity of air. Sheep shearing is carried out once a year, in spring or early summer. The recovered wool is then washed without chemicals, carded and then combed. Shearing a sheep yields an average of 2 kg of wool.
Among the natural materials that we never get tired of, especially when it's cold, wool is the big favorite. Warm, cozy and insulating, wool is the ideal material to protect yourself from the cold at home.
Its ability to regulate temperature is legendary: used for centuries by nomads, wool is a perfect temperature regulator.
In hot weather, it allows the body to maintain a stable temperature and wick away perspiration. After dark or during the cold season, wool retains body heat even when temperatures drop.
Insulating, it is also hypoallergenic and absorbs the humidity released by the body, acting as a natural air conditioner.
A Blanket, a wool blanket or dressing gown perfectly retains heat and allows the body to breathe without hindering the perspiration process. Elasticity and flexibility are other of its assets: wool is a material that does not deform provided that you respect a few small washing precautions.
In terms of stubborn and yet completely false myths, wool has a tendency to felt and scratch. Surround yourself with the softness of Blanket or a beautiful wool dressing gown will undoubtedly convince you otherwise!
Combined with a very soft material, such as cotton, linen, or silk, wool will give your bedroom, your kitchen or your bathroom the best of itself.
Maintenance:
Although it is preferable and recommended here to maintain it dry, wool can nevertheless be washed but with great care! Avoid washing your wool household linen in too hot water and drying it in the dryer and choose a “ Detergent special » respectful of the physiological qualities of this unrivaled animal material.
Using the dryer at low temperature is always possible even if we prefer air drying and especially flat drying to avoid any deformation.
NB: we advise you, however, to refer exclusively to the maintenance instructions appearing on the product sheet that you are going to order.

ORGANIC MERINO WOOL
Warm, cozy and insulating, wool is the ideal material to protect yourself from the cold at home. Insulating, it is also hypoallergenic and absorbs the humidity released by the body, acting as a natural air conditioner without hindering the perspiration process.
Wool is also a natural shield against volatile organic compounds (formaldehyde type).
The Merino is a breed of sheep native to Australia whose dense, curly fleece gives abundant, elastic and very resistant wool. Very soft and silky, Merino wool is three times finer than traditional wool and therefore absolutely does not itch. It is also very insulating and temperature regulating.
Our products in wool Merino ORGANIC are manufactured in Europe and meet the standards GOTS with organic certification of the entire textile sector:
- demanding environmental criteria,
- working conditions: no child labor or forced labor, sufficient wages and decent working hours, regularity of employment, - security.

LINEN
A plant fiber from the Linacea family extracted from the linum stem, flax is mainly cultivated in Europe and France. Renowned in particular for the beauty of its flowers, it has an impeccable ecological record, from its cultivation to spinning.
No energy or solvent is required. It has the particularity of being a long fiber (several tens of centimeters), which distinguishes it from short fibers like cotton or medium fibers like wool.
Fluid and airy, linen is very pleasant to the touch and feel. Anallergic and with high absorbency, it is essential for the summer months, especially during hot weather. It’s really in the house, the stuff of sunny days!
Its clear advantage remains its resistance. It is one of the strongest fibers. It lasts a long time without deforming and does not lint, giving your laundry impeccable hold over time.
A symbol of elegance and refinement without flashiness, linen acquires distinction when creased and will blend genres and eras brilliantly to offer an impeccable look.
So there's no need to insist on ironing your linen sheets, duvet covers, tablecloths or curtains perfectly! If they are slightly wrinkled, they will be the most chic! Adopt linen and adopt it for life!
Maintenance:
Contrary to popular belief, linen can be washed. However, we advise you to use a Detergent special linen respectful of the fiber.
However, like most natural materials, it is extremely sensitive to humidity and subject to shrinkage during the first wash. The “technical tolerance” of a quality linen fabric is around 5 to 6% shrinkage during the first wash. You just need to anticipate it, especially when choosing the size you are going to buy, for a tablecloth, a sheet, etc.
After the first wash, linen has good dimensional stability. The most cautious among us will resolutely opt for dry maintenance. But have no regrets: it’s well worth it!
However, as its fibers do not retain dust or greasy substances, it will not require frequent cleaning under normal conditions of use. Ironing requires high temperatures and ideally a high flow of steam which, penetrating the fiber, will greatly help to remove wrinkles.
No longer be afraid of linen: “modern” linens are really easy to iron. This is particularly the case for the beautiful French Jacquard tablecloths, in the spotlight on our shelves.

MERINO
The Merino is a breed of sheep native to Australia whose breeding continues in Spain and Provence and whose dense and curly fleece gives abundant, elastic and very resistant wool.
A Merino sheep produces the equivalent of 9,000 km of wool fiber each year. Very soft and silky, Merino wool is three times finer than traditional wool and therefore absolutely does not itch. It is also very insulating and temperature regulating.
Arles Merino, a cross between Arles sheep and Merinos imported from Spain, is undoubtedly the finest wool in France and its fineness is comparable to that of Cashmere.
Maintenance:
Although it is preferable to maintain it dry, Merino wool can nevertheless be washed by hand or in the machine on the "wool" or "delicate linen" program, with a Detergent soft “special wool”. Always dry flat on a terry towel to avoid any deformation.
NB: we advise you, however, to refer exclusively to the maintenance instructions appearing on the product sheet that you are going to order.

THE METIS
Composed of approximately 50% linen and 50% cotton, the metis is therefore not strictly speaking a material but a fabric composed of two natural materials whose properties it effectively combines.
Hypoallergenic, hygienic and capable of absorbing around 10% of its weight in water, cotton has countless qualities that make it the natural plant fiber most used to make household linen.
Easy to maintain, it withstands high temperatures in the machine and is practically not charged with static electricity. Ideal for all seasons, cotton is comfortable and solid.
A plant fiber extracted from the linum stem, linen is a fluid and airy natural material with a very pleasant touch.
Antiallergic and with high absorbency, it is essential for the summer months, especially during hot weather, and will work wonders as bed linen.
Elegant and sophisticated, it will also be used to weave a beautiful tablecloth in iridescent colors or to make curtains with a refined charm. Time suits it wonderfully: it actually acquires a patina over the years.
A blend of these two noble materials, the crossbreed will reveal all its qualities to you over time: a pleasant touch, easy maintenance and unexpected flexibility.
Maintenance:
Easy to maintain, the metis inherits the ease of maintenance of the cotton it is made of, giving the fabric good dimensional stability. It is machine washable up to 60°C and requires ironing, which is easier as the cotton and linen fibers are of high quality.
Spinning does not frighten him, just like mechanical drying or ironing as long as the temperature remains adapted to the manufacturer's recommendations.

THE MOHAIR
Coming from Türkiye, Mohair (Angora goat hair) is a fiber with exceptional thermal qualities. Ideal in all seasons, it is warm in winter and cool when summers are humid. It is also very light and offers a beautiful lustrous appearance and a very soft touch which makes it suitable not only for connoisseurs, but also for young children and the elderly looking for warmth without excessive weight.
A natural material, Mohair is nonetheless a resistant and easy-to-maintain wool. The fibers of Mohair wool tend to return to their original curly shape: this is what gives it its particular loft.
Maintenance:
While it is best to keep it dry, Mohair wool can be washed. A few simple steps are enough to maintain it without risk: wash it cold (less than 30°C) and with a Detergent soft "special wool", then wring it gently without twisting or rubbing it. Washing can be done by hand but also in the machine if your machine has a "wool" or "delicate laundry" program. Drying will be done flat, on a terry towel, away from any source of heat and light. Absolutely avoid: the dryer and the iron.
NB: we advise you, however, to refer exclusively to the maintenance instructions appearing on the product sheet that you are going to order.

SILK
Known since the dawn of time, silk is a precious natural material of exceptional quality. Of animal origin, silk thread is obtained after unwinding the cocoon made by the larva of a butterfly. Silk fiber is very absorbent, up to 30% of its weight and can retain 12%. Fine, elastic and supple, its calorific value is great.
Its thermal characteristics allow you to stay cool during the summer months and keep warm in the winter. Solid (three times stronger than wool), shiny, it offers incomparable softness, drape and comfort.
It is the noble material par excellence.
At Label Naturel we only offer you the best quality of natural silk possible, excluding all products made from recycled silk (silk flakes).
For bed linen you will find: grade A mulberry silk whose high weight of 19 momme ensures silkiness, shine and longevity to your household linen.
For duvets and pillows you will find: mulberry silk or oak silk.
Mulberry silk : it is the best known of the silks. It comes from the cocoon of the butterfly Bombyx mori. Mulberry silk is soft and white and allows you to handcraft real silk duvets that are breathable and temperature-regulating. Our mulberry silk duvets have a zipper that allows you to see the quality of the silk.
Oak silk called silk Tussah : it is a silk of Indian origin from the cocoon of the butterfly Tussah (Antherae mylitta), wild silkworms not raised in sericulture, which feed on the Manchurian Oak. Oak silk has the particularity of being hard-wearing and very resistant. Its slightly less smooth appearance than mulberry silk gives it a slightly more grainy texture with incomparable natural charm. It is a silk used for furnishing because it is resistant to wear and friction.
These two types of silks are the same without it being possible to make a real hierarchy. Their qualities are identical, as is their longevity. Oak silk, because it is wild, is only more rustic in appearance than mulberry silk and therefore cheaper during its production. This slight price difference is also verified on our site.
Maintenance:
In the chapter, “myths die hard”, the impossibility of washing silk occupies the Top 5! Obviously, this is not the case: silk can be washed up to 30°, ideally by hand but nevertheless in the machine if necessary when using a Detergent respectful of its fibers.
For all silk products in our catalog, we recommend the Detergent Tenestar® which we know very well and whose impeccable results we guarantee.
However, we do not recommend washing our silk duvets as they will lose their covering power over time. For the latter, we advise you to opt for annual dry maintenance.
NB: we advise you, however, to refer exclusively to the maintenance instructions appearing on the product sheet that you are going to order.
